With the CSA and IBC updates, seismic, high-strength and sustainability requirements are gaining importance for structural engineers in the US and Canada.

The seminar presentation shall provide rich technical data on performance steel bars including Low-Carbon Chromium Steel bars (ASTM A1035 CS and CM) and continuous galvanized (ASTM A1094). Both have been extensively evaluated for their high corrosion resistance and the mechanism to extend the service life of concrete structures.

ChromX 9100 and 4100, A1035-CS and CM, respectively, rebar’s combination of superior corrosion resistance, high strength and ductility are proven to provide ultimate corrosion protection to sustain concrete serviceability for longer service. The high strength can be used to efficiently design structures up to 100 ksi (690 MPa) reducing construction costs and time. In addition, they provide exceptional blast protection for concrete structures. The high strength can withstand stronger forces, while the ductility dissipates the force across the structural member.

GalvaBar ASTM A1094 is galvanized rebar with a zinc alloy coating that provides the well-known corrosion protection of zinc and the added benefit of exceptional formability. ASTM A1094 can be bent and fabricated after galvanizing without fear of peeling or flaking. GalvaBar substrates are ASTM A615, ASTM A706 and ASTM A1035-CS and CM.

Corrosion studies and service life modelling analyses will be presented to illustrate the efficiency in using these bars to extend the service life of concrete structures depending on the required service life of the reinforced concrete structures across Canada.

Join us for an enlightening evening talk on this much coveted subject, where Ben shall be presenting following topics:

  • Research and approvals on the use of ChromX 9100 and 4100, A1035-CS and CM bars
  • The multiple inherent advantages for using these rebars on variety of projects
  • Successful examples of major projects in USA and Canada
